Throughout the summer months, community members at 250 East Ponce participated in various events to give back, including a dog adoption event and a blood drive. As the days grow crisper and shadows stretch longer, let’s take a moment to relive our favorite summer memories!

Community members and their future best friends gathered for a dog adoption event led by the Lifeline Animal Project, a non-profit that helps animals in shelters, clinics, and the Lifeline Community Animal Center in the Atlanta area. At the event, which was held outside in the courtyard of the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at 250 East Ponce, attendees and the Lifeline dogs were treated with the opportunity to get to know each other.
At the event, Lifeline provided education about mental health for both people and the shelter animals. Gathered in the courtyard together, the dog adoption events provided moments of tangible joy and connection through the shared experience.
One long-time Lifeline volunteer and advocate, who is also a Biltmore Innovation Center community member, shared the idea for the adoption event to bring awareness and support for the organization and its efforts of “saving lives together.” Lifeline educators also shared information on volunteering, commonly needed shelter supplies, and dog adoption. Attendees had the opportunity to adopt a dog for a day or a weekend, and they also brought donations of food, towels, blankets, crates, and toys.
The community also provided heartfelt, life-saving support through an American Red Cross blood drive event in July, in collaboration with the Emory School of Nursing.
